Division of Diversity and Opportunity
The Division of Diversity and Opportunity assists small, minority, and disadvantaged insurance agencies, producers and individuals by providing educational and informational services to foster a greater awareness of the opportunities available in the insurance industry.
The division's activities include:
- Providing training, seminars, and programs to assist producers and persons in the insurance industry with obtaining contracts and employment.
- Conducting presentations on risk management, cybersecurity and insurance as it relates to small and historically disadvantaged businesses.
- Working closely with minority churches to evaluate information on members that are under or uninsured, in order to educate and assist them with obtaining insurance. Also, arranging seminars, workshops and social events with church senior congregation to offer assistance with Medicare and benefits that are available.
- Meeting with insurance companies, general agents, and brokers to acquire contracts for minority and disadvantaged producers and adjusters.
- Organizing free Building Blocks Workshops for agents across the state throughout the year.
